This carol is very old, usually sung in church or monasteries. It tells of Mother Mary sitting in the church, she is neither laughing nor singing. When asked by her son, why she sighs instead, she answers that it is normal she does so, as man is exceedingly doing wrong deeds. She says that on judgment day, very few will be left: only the ones who listen to him.
lyrics
Sus in Raiul sfintilor
Oi linu-i lin si rujmalin
Pe cununa muntilor.
Este-o dalba manastire
Oi linu-i lin si rujmalin
Cu scaun de odihnire.
Da acolo cine sede
Oi linu-i lin si rujmalin
Da acolo cine sede
Sede sede Maica Sfanta
Oi linu-i lin si rujmalin
Nici nu rade nici nu canta.
Cu-n pahar sfintit in mana
Oi linu-i lin si rujmalin
Tot inchina si suspina.
Vine Fiul si o-ntreaba
Oi linu-i lin si rujmalin
Ce suspini maicuta draga?
Da eu cum n-oi suspina
Oi linu-i lin si rujmalin
Cand vad cat de rea-i lumea.
Si-or veni la judecata
Oi linu-i lin si rujmalin
Si s-o pierde lumea toata
Doar putini or mai ramane
Oi linu-i lin si rujmalin
Cei ce-or asculta de Tine.
